NYT Connections Sports Edition today: Hints and answers for November 3
Connections Sports Edition is a new version of the popular New York Times word game that seeks to test the knowledge of sports fans. The game requires players to group four words that share something in common, with each set being split into four categories. Each puzzle features 16 words and players can rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Players can also share their results on social media.
Today’s Connections Sports Edition #41 has the following categories:
- Yellow - Soccer positions (GOALKEEPER, MIDFIELDER, SWEEPER, WINGER)
- Green - Schools with colorful nicknames (STANFORD, SYRACUSE, TULANE, TULSA)
- Blue - Alma mater of last 4 NFL No. 1 picks (ALABAMA, CLEMSON, GEORGIA, USC)
- Purple - Power __ (FORWARD, HITTER, LIFTER, PLAY)
The best laptops of 2024, tested and approved by Mashable’s experts
Choosing the best laptop is a personal decision that depends on various factors such as primary use cases, preferred operating system, and budget. There is no universally best laptop, but Mashable has vetted and approved some standout models that are well-made, powerful enough for their respective use cases, and priced fairly or easily found on sale. These include the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7, MacBook Air 15-inch M3, and Surface Laptop Go 3. For gaming laptops, the Alienware m16 R2 leads the pack. Two unique 2-in-1 devices that are recommended by Mashable include the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 and Asus Zenbook Duo. Black Friday is a good time to buy a laptop if you’re looking for a good deal, but it’s important to cross-check prices across retailers and manufacturers’ DTC sites to avoid overpaying.
The Quantum Geometry That Exists Outside of Space and Time
Carolina Figueiredo, a Princeton University graduate student, discovered a massive coincidence involving three different types of subatomic particles. She calculated that all collisions would produce the same wreckage, like laying a grid over maps of London, Tokyo, and New York and seeing that all three cities have train stations at the same coordinates. This coincidence revealed a conspiracy: The theories describing the three types of particles are essentially one, stems from the existence of a hidden structure that could potentially simplify the complex business of understanding what’s going on at the base level of reality.
Nima Arkani-Hamed, a physicist who has been leading a hunt for a new way of doing physics for nearly two decades, suspects that the usual notion of quantum particles moving and interacting in space-time is an approximation of deeper, more abstract concepts, which, if found, could serve as a better language for talking about quantum gravity and the origin of the universe. In 2013, Arkani-Hamed and his student Jaroslav Trnka discovered a jewel-like geometric object that forecasts the outcomes of certain particle interactions, which they called the “amplituhedron.” However, the object didn’t apply to the particles of the real world.
Now Figueiredo’s conspiracy is another manifestation of abstract geometric structure that seems to underlie particle physics. This new method, known as “surfaceology,” streamlines quantum physics by sidestepping the traditional approach, which is to track the countless ways particles can move through space-time using Feynman diagrams. These depictions of particles’ possible collisions and trajectories translate into complicated equations. With surfaceology, physicists can get the same result more directly.

How to watch Dolphins vs Bills online for free
The Miami Dolphins are visiting the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in Week 9 of the NFL 2024 season. The Bills are in good form, leading the AFC East by three games and 6-2 overall this season, while the Dolphins are only 2-5 and unlikely to make the playoffs. However, upsets do happen on the gridiron, as proved when the New York Jets beat the Houston Texans earlier this week.
To watch Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills for free from anywhere in the world, you can use TVNZ+, a free streaming platform that’s geo-restricted to New Zealand. To access TVNZ+, you’ll need to use an ExpressVPN VPN, which offers fast connection speeds, strict no-logging policy, and up to eight simultaneous connections. The best VPN for the NFL is ExpressVPN, with servers in 105 countries, easy-to-use app available on all major devices, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. A one-year subscription to ExpressVPN is currently available for $99.95, which includes an extra three months at no additional cost, a whole year of unlimited cloud backup for free, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
